A Record Breaking Year...
On September 17th, Allen & Major Associates, Inc. hosted our 9th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament with 111 golfers.
After checking in and taking some practice swings at the driving range, the golfers enjoyed a delicious luncheon. Once the foursomes got together, they dispatched to their hole assignments and the fun began.
Although somewhat cloudy, the sun won out for much of the afternoon making for a beautiful day to play golf on the Cape.
For a change of pace, Mr. Major decided to give the golfers a break from his “Major Challenge” and the #12 hole became a “Closest to the Pin“ competition. Mr. Major could be seen on the golf course though. As a special treat Mr. Major handed out cigars which were specially made for the tournament.
By 6:00pm all the foursomes had made it back to the clubhouse and handed in their score cards. A&M’s tournament staff and “non-golfer” friends greeted players as they returned. Everyone enjoyed cocktails on the deck overlooking the course.
One Hundred and twenty five guests enjoyed a scrumptious prime rib dinner complete with awards presentations to the tournament winners.
During the dinner Cathy Welch of The New England Center for Children announced some exciting new happenings for the school. Currently, a pool is under construction at the school’s Southborough facility. Additionally, NECC has been selected to open a new school for autistic children in Abu Dubai, the first school of it’s kind in the capital city.
A special raffle item was donated to the tournament by WS Development Associates, a foursome of golf at TPC in Norton, MA. A&M’s own Ryan Bianchetto took home the grand prize.
Additional prizes for the general raffle included NECC apparel, brand new golf bags, and Sony DVD players.
As we had hoped, The England Center for Children was truly the big winner of the day. This year, total donations collected before, during and after the tournament tallied up to $16,885.00 — our most successful effort to date! We only hope to raise the bar again next year. The generosity of all those involved was extraordinary!
