Senior Project Manager

Allen & Major Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in Civil Engineering to join our growing team in any of our three offices (Woburn, MA, Lakeville, MA, and Manchester, NH). Responsibilities will include the management of development projects from concept to completion with a special focus on fostering client relationships and utilizing your technical knowledge to lead project teams and mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on a diverse portfolio of projects and be able to manage projects from initial concept through completion. You should possess the technical and management skills required to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects, on time and within budget.

Requirements:

Knowledge of the Massachusetts land use entitlement processes and local and state regulations.
Experience with private developments performing site due diligence, preparing land use permit applications, understanding zoning laws, and presenting to municipal agencies.
Experience with municipal projects is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff.

Civil Project Engineers

Allen & Major Associates, Inc. is seeking Civil Project Engineers in our Woburn, MA, and Manchester, NH offices. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience in the preparation of civil/site construction documents and permitting submissions (local, state, and federal) associated with a variety of private land development projects.

In this role, you will work closely with the firm's Principals and Project Managers to support private land development projects in various phases of development.

The ideal candidate must have the ability to perform grading, drainage calculations, site due diligence, and assist with the preparation of engineering plans, construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports, preparation of permit submissions, and perform construction administration services.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required; knowledge of HydroCAD and Civil 3D is a strong plus. The ideal candidate should be able to work well in a team and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Civil Designer

Allen & Major is looking to fill a full-time civil engineering design position in our Woburn, MA office. As a project designer, you will be assigned to work on development projects of varying size and scope. Project types may include retail, multi-family residential, commercial, medical/institutional, and mixed-use developments. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and a range of 0-3 years of experience in civil/site design.

Successful candidates should have or be completing their Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is a strong plus. This position will require construction site visits, inspections of stormwater system components, and other construction-related tasks as needed.

Survey Crew Chiefs

As a Crew Chief at A&M, you will lead field survey operations on a diverse range of public and private development projects throughout Massachusetts and New England. You will work directly with our surveyors, engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to deliver accurate, dependable survey information from initial field reconnaissance through construction.

Our projects include commercial, industrial, retail, multifamily residential, municipal, medical/institutional, mixed-use, and infrastructure development. No two projects are the same, providing the opportunity to work across a broad range of surveying applications and develop your technical and leadership skills.

What You'll Do

Lead and perform field surveys for boundary, topographic, existing conditions, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, as-built, roadway, utility, and control surveys.
Direct and supervise survey crew members in the field, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Operate robotic and conventional total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, digital levels, data collectors, 3D scanning equipment, and other modern survey technology.
Perform site control, boundary reconnaissance, monument recovery, field measurements, construction staking, and topographic data collection.
Perform field calculations, establish horizontal and vertical control, and verify the accuracy and completeness of collected data.
Interpret plans, construction documents, survey records, deeds, and other project information to effectively perform field assignments.
Coordinate field activities with A&M project managers, engineers, surveyors, contractors, and construction personnel.
Upload, download, review, and organize field data and communicate field conditions or potential issues to the project team.
Identify field conflicts, discrepancies, and unforeseen conditions and communicate them effectively to the appropriate project team members.

Care for and maintain survey instruments, vehicles, tools, and equipment.

What We're Looking For

3–5+ years of land surveying experience, with demonstrated Crew Chief or Party Chief experience preferred.
Strong understanding of fundamental land surveying principles, field procedures, and construction surveying practices.
Proficiency operating robotic total stations, conventional total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, digital levels, and survey data collectors.
Experience with construction layout, boundary, topographic, existing conditions, ALTA/NSPS, and/or as-built surveys.
Ability to read and interpret survey plans, engineering plans, deeds, easements, and other project documents.
Strong field problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to lead a crew while maintaining high standards for accuracy, efficiency, and safety.

The Work

This is a hands-on field position. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors year-round and navigating active construction sites, undeveloped properties, wooded areas, and other challenging terrain.

The position requires standing, walking, and hiking for extended periods, carrying survey equipment, and performing physical tasks associated with locating monuments, establishing control, setting stakes, and clearing lines of sight.

Manage multiple land surveying projects from proposal through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders, building strong, long-term professional relationships.
Provide technical oversight and direction for boundary, topographic, existing conditions, ALTA/NSPS, subdivision, ANR, easement, roadway, construction layout, as-built, and other land surveying projects.

10+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including significant project management responsibility.

What We're Looking For

Associate's degree or technical training in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD, or a related field preferred.
