Talia Apartments - Marlborough MA
A&M provided civil engineering including stormwater and utility design, local, state, and federal permitting, land survey, construction services, and landscape architecture for this multi-family located at 155 Ames Street in Marlborough, MA. The overall project is comprised of four buildings consisting of 225 units and associated surface parking on 18.7 acres of land and sidewalks. Associated outbuildings include enclosed garages, a bus shelter on Ames Street, and a clubhouse. Site amenities include a pool, play area, dog park, and extensive walking trails.
Onsite resources included Bordering Vegetated Wetlands (BVW), Bank, and Riverfront to a perennial stream (Millham Brook). Near the center of the site, there was an eroded ditch created by unmitigated stormwater discharge from Ames Street. The site design utilized a narrow swath of wetland as a dividing line which bifurcated the parcel into two areas. Each area houses two buildings, associated parking, and amenities. A wood plank walkway was built over the wetland area to provide a pedestrian connection to both sections.
The project also created over 5,000 SF of wetland replication. The native species of the existing wetlands seeded themselves into the area creating an improved and expanded resource area. Extensive landscape design included preserving existing large growth trees. New plant materials including large caliper trees, shrubs, groundcover, perennials, and bulbs provide seasonal interest.
